Saturday’s game will be played at the Wanner Stadium, which is located next to Warhill High School at Stadium Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188 (website for further details and map: https://www.visitwilliamsburg.com/sporting-facilities/sandford-b-wanner-stadium). Kickoff is scheduled 3:00 pm. Folding chairs (and canopies) are not allowed in the stadium. As most know, there are plenty of seats in the stadium. As we are the #3 seed, we are the home team and will be on the side closest to the parking lot. That also means we must provide the personnel to work the sideline equipment. We cannot start the game until we have at least 3 if not 4 folks. Again, the sidelines a great place to take in all the action of the game!!! Unlike the rest of the season, the entrance fee is $5.00 for this playoff game (all adults and children over the elementary school age).
The players will wear their black jerseys this week. In lieu of dressing up on tomorrow, Friday, the 27th of October, the players will wear their black jerseys to school. Before practice on Friday, they will turn them back in at the end of school at 12:25, get dressed for practice and be complete by 3:30 pm. Remember, no activity bus for tomorrow’s early release day.
Our return back to Berkeley after Saturday’s game should be around 5:30 pm. We will have halftime snacks, but there will be no after game meal. There will be NO 5th quarter scrimmage after the game due to there being one more game after us. Upon return to BMS, we will receive jerseys and pants back and start working on washing them. If you would like to stay for the last game, parents will be allowed to sign for their players so they don’t have to ride the bus back to BMS as is the WJCC standard. We have received permission from AD to do this ONLY for players staying at Wanner. NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS will be made short of an injury that precludes a player from riding the bus. If you have any questions on this, please contact Coach Mingo immediately. This will NOT be a topic of discussion or debate on Saturday either before or after the game.
Finally, information on equipment turn in will follow tomorrow in both hard copy and posted here. As a heads up, the first day of equipment turn in will be Thursday of next week (2 November) with three days to follow. Early next week we will publish info on the end of the season recognition ceremony. For planning purposes, this event will occur sometime in mid-November. Every effort will be made to de-conflict this with other school sponsored events.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday as we close out a great season and to cheer on the Bulldogs while we take on New Kent.
