York Post-Game Notes

First, we would like to start with an apology for the change of location on the game yesterday. We did not know about the change until the bus pulled into an empty field and we unloaded all the equipment and players at the middle school. The flexibility of everyone to adjust so quickly was greatly appreciated.  Based on all the confusion and the threat of inclement weather, we really appreciated everyone who made the trip, endured the change and supported the team yesterday afternoon. Hearing the roar of our crowd for every hard hit, great run and fumble or interception motivates the team to preform even better. As has been our battle cry each week, we will continue to take one game at a time and use the lessons learned from each play to drive us towards the next week.

A special thanks goes out to Chase Harris’ family who provided the halftime snacks. On a humid day like yesterday, the fruit certainly helped us fight off cramps and other heat related issues. Likewise, thank you to Jackson Zahn’s, Jude Meadows’ and Kazhon Pierce’s families for providing the after-game meal and drinks upon the completion of the game last night. We all greatly appreciate the time, effort and monetary support for the entire program, no matter the outcome of each week’s game. As has been the case all season, we also want to take a moment to thank Mrs. Coleman for setting up and managing the Meal/Snack program and keeping control of our frenzied sidelines as well as Mr. Outten for his filming skills as our team videographer.

Today (Wednesday, the 11th of October) we will adhere to our normal schedule by reviewing film right after school with a will release of all players by 5:00 pm for pick up or the opportunity to ride the Activity Bus. Based on the current weather forecast, we plan to practice our normal Thursday and Friday until 6:00 pm. The only change to this would be based on thunderstorms moving into the area that produce lightening.

A continued thank you goes out to all our families and players for their commitment and dedication in adhering to the standards of the football program and Berkeley Middle School. While we’ve recently had a couple of dismissals from the team for repeated failures to follow the team standards and BMS/VHSL rules, the team has come together to overcome the reduced number of players by stepping up their efforts in practice and on the game field. For the first time in several weeks, we were able run a full up 5th quarter scrimmage and when combined with injuries, sickness and other players not available, everyone got a chance to play more quality minutes than what we’ve experienced in the past couple of weeks.

This completes the regular season away games, so we invite everyone to join us for a kick off at 4:30 pm on Tuesday the 17th of October against Grafton Middle School at the Berkeley Middle School field. More details on the next game will follow this weekend/early next week as we get closer to kick off. Thanks to those who have turned in the Athletic Fee forms be working on a case-by-case basis to get the rest so they can be turned into the Athletic Director.

Finally, don’t forget about ordering t-shirts and sweatshirts on line at www.givethroughdesign.com or for those who would like to pay cash, through the order forms provided to the team on Monday. Cut off for on-line ordering is this Sunday, the 15th of October. For those paying cash, the money needs to be turned into Coach Mingo by the end of practice on this Friday, the 13th of October. Orders are scheduled to be back to us for our last game of the season.

Thanks,

Your Berkeley Bulldog Coaching Staff
